Prophecies of Daniel: An Introduction To The Book of Daniel.

This post is about the Prophecies of Daniel: An Introduction to the Book of Daniel.
The Bible has successfully survived all the attacks of its enemies for thousands of years. It remains today ‘a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path’. See Psalm 119:105.
In love with you, God gave the Bible long ago. ‘Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.’ 2 Peter 1:21. Others of His servants through the ages have preserved God’s Word for you, at the cost of countless sufferings and even martyrdoms. In the Bible, God speaks to your heart today.
The Book of the prophet Daniel has likewise endured and survived all the attacks of those who would oppose the inspiration of the Scriptures. Modern discoveries of the buried records in the Middle East confirm the writing of this book by the prophet himself. It is one of the most important books of the Bible. For many centuries it was ‘sealed’ to the understanding of men, but in this ‘time of the end’, the angel told Daniel that for those who study it diligently ‘knowledge shall be increased’ (Daniel 12:4). Jesus, the Son of God and Saviour of the world, commanded, ‘Whoso readeth, let him understand.’ Matthew 24:15. Surely we ought to obey His command and study and ‘understand’ this book as He would have us do.
Your study will be very richly rewarded. But before you open the book of Daniel to begin, bow your heart before God and ask Him to grant you the gift of His Holy Spirit to be your Teacher. His promise is, ‘Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.’ Proverbs 1:23. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit ‘shall teach you all things,’ and ‘guide you into all truth’ (John 14:26; 16:13). ‘Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find.’ Matthew 7:7.

But be careful not to twist God’s Holy Word as some men who are ‘unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction’. 2 Peter 3:16. ‘No prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.’ 2 Peter 1:20. That is, not one of us has the right to guess at the meaning of Scripture or to dream up his own personal explanation of it. We must let the Word explain itself, ‘comparing spiritual things with spiritual’. 1 Corinthians 2:13. In this way, we shall have the help of the angel to whom God commanded, ‘Gabriel, make this man [Daniel] to understand the vision.’ Daniel 8:16. If God was so desirous to help Daniel understand what he himself had seen, surely He will help to understand! The book was written for us in these last days.A Christian nurse stood by a hospital bed as a small child of the inner city opened the wrappings of a Christmas  present. The gift, donated through a charity, had a note attached. “With lots of love,” the nurse read aloud.

The boy’s mind groped for understanding. “What does ‘love’ mean?” he asked.

Concealing her surprise, the nurse flung her arms around the neglected child and squeezed him. Then she disengaged her arms and kissed his cheek. “That’s love,” she explained.

“I like love,” the little boy replied.

That is certainly true of all of us. We too like love and the Bible says God is love and through the prophecies found in the book of Daniel He has felt it important to warn us of what is coming ahead. God truly cares and loves us very much!
